Helping Mommy

When I was pregnant with my first child I read all the books, took all the classes...and now over 2 years later I can't believe that no one ever said really loudly this one simple thing: CHILDREN LEARN BY IMITATION
I know you are thinking...well i knew that, and so did I to an extent. BUT I never fully utilized it. It is one thing to know something and something completely different to make it part of your everyday life.

I have taken to letting my kids 14 mos and 31 mos help me with almost everything. They help cook, clean, do laundry and anything else I might do on a daily basis. You are probably thinking I am completely BONKERS...and I did too at first. I mean sure things take way longer now, but the kids are SO HAPPY. It makes the house calm and peaceful and I never have to feel guilty about plopping my kids in front of the TV so I can get something done.

The Simple Women's Daybook- Mon Dec.14 2009

Outside my window...
The sun in the morning...it has been VERY cold for the past few day, and I mean VERY, VERY, VERY Cold..like -44C cold!!
I am thinking...that winter really can be hard to appreciate sometimes

I am thankful...for quiet moments

I am wearing...fleece!!!

I am remembering...that Christmas is coming quickly

I am going...nowhere!!! It is still -40C way to cold for me and the kids to running around town.

I am currently reading...You are your Child's first Teacher. Such an AMAZING book!

I am hoping for...a smooth week ahead

On my mind...my kids

Noticing that...the sun looks like the moon when it is really cold out. My poor 2 yr old is sooo confused ;)

Pondering these words...Children are NOT tiny adults!

From the Kitchen...
My Grandma's shortbread cookies
1/2 c. corn starch
1/2 c. icing sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. butter (soft)
Sift dry ingredients. Mix in butter with wooden spoon. Roll into balls. Bake at 300F for 10 min. Makes about 2 doz.

Around the house...cleaned the bathrooms, still have to put up some Christmas decorations.

One of my favorite things...Nuts n' bolts ( I will post the recipe later)

From my picture Journal...
